What a small practice actually needs from software
Strip the marketing and a HIPAA program has five recurring jobs: keep the risk analysis current, keep policies written and acknowledged, track training per person, track business associates and their agreements, and prove the technical safeguards are working. Products differ in which of those they do for you, which they give you a template for, and which they leave to you.

The healthcare-specific products, one by one
Compliancy Group
The best-known name in small-practice HIPAA, sold through partnerships with dental and other healthcare associations. The Guard platform bundles policy templates, training, guided assessments and vendor tracking, with coaching and advisory services. Its Seal page says the HIPAA Seal of Compliance is no longer offered, replaced by a Trust Badge tied to activating the program. It doesn't describe a device agent, and the risk analysis is a guided self-assessment with a coach unless you buy advisory services. Its site asks you to request a quote; G2 lists seller-supplied tiers from $99 a month. Rated 4.8 on G2 from 123 reviews and 4.9 on Capterra; the cons reviewers list are navigation across the many tabs and redoing assessments after product changes. Best when you want coaching and a familiar name, and you're happy to do the assessment yourself.
Accountable
One of the few with public prices: three plans from $169 to $679 a month billed annually, with 15 to 20 employees included and extra seats from $9 a month, and with policies, an AI-guided security risk assessment, training, vendor and BAA management and an audit log in the base tier. It markets a "HIPAA certification" and seal, which is a phrase to be careful with, since no such certification exists. It doesn't describe a device agent. Rated 4.8 on Capterra; reviewers like the simplicity and mention limited customization and integrations. Best when price transparency and a quick start matter most.
Abyde
Built for small practices, with dental, optometry and chiropractic in its target list and a separate track for business associates. Unlimited access to compliance experts is part of the pitch; the assessment is software-guided. Its site has a pricing calculator rather than a price list; Capterra lists a starting price around $115 a month. Few public reviews. Best when you want a practice-focused product with a person to call.
MedTrainer
A learning management and credentialing suite with a compliance module. Strong if you need staff training and provider credentialing in one place; HIPAA is one piece of it, and the risk analysis method isn't described. Private pricing. Rated 4.3 on Capterra; reviewers mention support response times, and one describes an unexpected auto-renewal. Best when credentialing is the bigger problem.
HIPAA One
Now part of Intraprise Health, which Health Catalyst acquired in November 2024. An assessment product that follows the OCR audit protocol, sold as managed (their team does the SRA), hybrid or self-service. It doesn't describe device monitoring. Rated 4.8 on Capterra; reviewers like the guided questions and prior-year carry-over. Best when you want the risk analysis done for you and don't need the rest of a program platform.
The multi-framework platforms
Vanta, Drata, Secureframe and Sprinto automate evidence collection from cloud, identity and HR systems and all have their own device agents. They're built for companies that need SOC 2 or several frameworks and have someone to run the tool, and they're priced that way. For a health-tech vendor selling to hospitals they're a sensible shortlist; for a six-person practice they're more than you need. Our SOC 2 software comparison covers them in depth.
Where AccuSights fits, and where it doesn't
We're the service-led option. A named engineer writes the risk analysis with you, in-house CISOs review your policies, remediation is included, the endpoint agent checks every workstation it's installed on without an MDM, and controls are cross-mapped to SOC 2 for vendors that need it. The fee is fixed and quoted in writing. We have fewer integrations than the big platforms and a smaller name than Compliancy Group. Best when you have no security hire and want the work done with you, not a portal and good wishes.
